BEK Community Grants Power Rural Progress
Mandan Fire and Page Park Projects Moving Forward
July 2025
The BEK Community Partnership Program (CPP) continues to make a difference across our service area by supporting projects that improve and strengthen our communities. Following the announcement last month of 14 grant recipients, we’re pleased to share with you how two more of them plan to enhance their communities through this funding.
Mandan Rural Fire Protection District
BEK is proud to support the Mandan Rural Fire Department with funds toward a new 3/4 ton pickup truck, an essential Command Vehicle that will help transport equipment, tow vital trailers, and improve safety on the fire line. As a mutual aid partner across Morton and Burleigh counties, this department plays a critical role in protecting rural communities.
“The Mandan Rural Fire Department would like to thank BEK Communications for their donation towards the purchase of our new Command Vehicle. Greatly appreciated!” – Chief Lynn Gustin
Page Park District
We’re proud to support the Page Park Board in rebuilding their community baseball facilities. The unsafe, rotted dugouts at Nelson Field have been replaced with solid, brand-new structures built by local craftsman Dusty Erickson of Sawdust Construction. In addition to the dugouts, eight sets of bleachers at Nelson and Omoth Fields are being restored, ten park benches are being repaired, and both fields are getting a fresh layer of argilime.div>
"We wanted to build new dugouts at our baseball field, the old ones were, literally, falling apart. With donations from our community and a grant from BEK Communications, we were able to construct brand new dugouts. I am confident in saying, we have one of the nicest baseball fields around!" – Kyle Erickson, President, Page Park Board
The CPP, created by the BEK Communications Cooperative Board of Directors, supports local efforts that align with BEK’s mission to promote progress and service throughout rural North Dakota. Applications are reviewed twice a year and selected based on how each project meets current and future community needs.
